Feeling stressed, overwhelmed losing the joy or satisfaction in your work, compassion fatigue or heading for burnout? This pre conference workshop is for you.

Too often we adopt a ‘hero’ role, struggling on in the face of overwhelming demands, ignoring the impact of our patients’ pain and suffering on ourselves. We taught to detach to be resilient. But this ‘detached’ form of coping can lead to emotional exhaustion, cynicism, de-personalisation and a loss of meaning. In contrast, ‘compassion for resilience draws on the strengths of who you are, your purpose and meaning and coupled with your personal values increases renewal and reconnection to grow compassion. This reflective workshop will draw on others people influential experience, lessons learnt from serving our patients and our own experience to help us grow relationally

Facilitator: Lynette Moodley, Employee Assistance Program Manager, Employee Assistance Program, Hunter New England Local Health District

Lynette has more than 30 years of Social Work experience both in the areas of clinical and management and in the fields of addictions, mental health,, child protection and corporate wellness, in both government and non-government organisations.. Lynette brings 20 years of corporate knowledge of the LHD and 18 years of direct involvement in promoting and delivering initiatives related to staff wellbeing and managing the impact of exposure to trauma in the work place. Lynette’s passion for social justice has inspired her to consider the need for personal justice and so evolved her motto: “you cannot give what you do not have”.
